Looking for a HubSpot AEO alternative? HubSpot's new answer engine optimization tool tracks 3 AI engines for $50 a month. ThriveStackcitedby tracks 10, starts at $35 a month, and ties citations to CRM and billing revenue.
What does the HubSpot AEO tool actually track?
HubSpot AEO tracks how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention your brand. It then suggests content and technical fixes. HubSpot launched the tool on April 14, 2026, alongside its Loop Marketing playbook. HubSpot points to its own data: customer organic traffic is down 27% year over year. That drop is the reason it gives for building the tool.
The product comes in two forms. A standalone subscription costs $50 a month for 25 tracked prompts. A bundled version ships inside Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise, with CRM-informed recommendations added in. Both report a visibility score, the share of tracked prompts that mention your brand. Both also report competitor share of voice, citation sources and sentiment. The whole line is still in Beta.
That’s exactly why we’ve built HubSpot AEO: to help businesses improve their AI visibility, grow brand awareness, and ultimately drive more qualified leads.

That urgency is real. This page answers a narrower question. Once you’re tracking AI visibility, does HubSpot AEO cover enough ground? Does it get you to revenue?
What does a direct HubSpot AEO comparison show?
ThriveStackcitedby tracks more engines. It costs less to start. It carries citations through to revenue. HubSpot AEO offers a trial with no card required, and CRM-aware recommendations for teams already paying for Marketing Hub. The table below scores each row on the evidence alone.

What does HubSpot AEO pricing look like against ThriveStackcitedby?
HubSpot AEO costs $50 a month standalone, or $45 a month billed annually. That covers 25 tracked prompts across three engines; more prompts cost extra. It’s also included at no extra charge inside Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise. ThriveStackcitedby’s Visibility tier starts at $35 a month and covers all 10 engines from day one. The Action layer, with content and technical recommendations, is free for now. An Attribution add-on, from $200 a month, ties citations to CRM and billing revenue.
Is the HubSpot AI Search Grader enough on its own?
No, and HubSpot doesn't claim otherwise. The AEO Grader is a one-time diagnostic. Run it once, get a snapshot score, and see roughly where you stand. It won't track changes over time. It won't run prompts daily. It won't attach a recommendation workflow. A second free tool, the AI Search Sensor, tracks industry-wide trends instead of your own brand.
Ongoing tracking is where the paid tiers start, on either side. Think of the stack as four steps: snapshot, monitor, act, then prove revenue. HubSpot's standalone AEO covers the first two steps and starts the third. ThriveStackcitedby's Attribution add-on closes the fourth.
Which engines does a real AI visibility tracking tool need to cover?
At minimum, an answer engine and generative engine optimization tool needs the engines your buyers actually use: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot and Grok. HubSpot AEO tracks three of those six. Rankability's 2026 agency review of HubSpot AEO names the gap directly. It omits Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, You.com and traditional Google rankings. ThriveStackcitedby tracks across 10 LLM platforms. A brand invisible in Copilot or AI Overviews still shows up in that report.
Interest in the category is new and growing fast. Search volume for “HubSpot AEO” jumped roughly ninefold in the month HubSpot launched the product. That's a strong signal that buyers are still actively comparing options.
How does prompt research work in HubSpot AEO and ThriveStackcitedby?
HubSpot AEO suggests prompts from three sources: your SEO and competitor keywords, social and community discussions, and CRM data about your customers and prospects. It rewrites short keywords into full questions and clusters near-duplicates so you don't track the same question twice. You can accept a suggestion, edit it, or write your own. You can also generate 8 to 15 more with AI. The daily cap is 25 prompts on the standalone tier and Marketing Hub Professional, or 50 on Enterprise.
ThriveStackcitedby runs this as its own step, called Prompt Research. It draws on your SEO and competitor keywords, social and community conversations, and your Brand kit, then layers in the real questions buyers ask AI about your category. Results group by persona or topic. Each one is tagged informational, commercial or transactional, and marked branded or non-branded. You pick which ones to track, so the final prompt set blends your own signals with real buyer language straight from AI engines.

What should answer engine optimization tools actually do?
Three things, in order: analyze where you stand, act on the gaps, then attribute the result to revenue. Most AEO tools stop short. HubSpot AEO's standalone tier is one of them: it delivers a score, a competitor view, and a list of recommended fixes, then stops there. HubSpot's own moves suggest it knows the market is shifting past tracking alone. On October 31, 2025, it agreed to acquire XFunnel, an AEO platform that analyzes citations across nine data sources, for native integration into its marketing products. That deal was still pending regulatory close as of this writing.
Look closer at what “act on the gaps” means for each tool. HubSpot AEO recommends two things: new content ideas and new earned-media opportunities. ThriveStackcitedby’s Action layer runs a fuller model, called FACT, with five parts. Technical recommendations, an SEO audit of your existing pages, and entity schema come first. Next it optimizes content you already have for AI answer readiness. Last, it suggests new owned and earned media ideas. HubSpot’s recommendations map to only that last part.
The table below breaks the Action layer into its five components and checks off what each tool actually covers.
| # | Action layer component | HubSpot AEO | ThriveStackcitedby |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Technical recommendations | Not included | Included |
| 2 | SEO audit of existing content pages | Not included | Included |
| 3 | Entity schema | Not included | Included |
| 4 | Optimize existing content for AI answer readiness | Not included | Included |
| 5 | New owned and earned media recommendations | Included | Included |
HubSpot AEO's two recommendation types sit entirely inside that last row. It has nothing in the other four: no technical fixes, no audit of your existing pages, no entity schema, and no pass to make content already on your site more AI-readable. ThriveStackcitedby's Action layer covers all five, so the work starts on what you already have before it ever suggests something new.
Is HubSpot AEO worth it for agencies, per independent hubspot aeo review coverage?
Mostly not, according to the agencies reviewing it. Rankability's review, written for agencies, calls HubSpot AEO better suited to in-house teams already on HubSpot. Agencies juggling several clients' tech stacks hit limits fast: the 25-prompt starting allotment runs out quickly across multiple accounts. The review also flags weaker client-facing reporting, content optimization and multi-client management. Those are exactly the jobs an agency tool needs to do well.
What do HubSpot AEO reviews actually say?
business.com rates HubSpot AEO 8.1 out of 10, per its dedicated review. The scorecard: a perfect 10/10 on pricing, 9/10 on usability and on features, 8/10 on integrations, and 7/10 on customer service, last updated August 2026. It's the only AEO-specific review score with a published methodology we could find.
Two gaps are worth naming plainly. HubSpot AEO has no standalone listing on G2 yet. Mentions of it show up only inside broader "best AEO software" roundups, including HubSpot's own. Trustpilot is the one review-aggregator score tied to the HubSpot name, and it covers the whole HubSpot platform: 1.5 out of 5, labeled "Bad," across 1,180 reviews. That score reflects company-wide complaints about billing, support and onboarding across HubSpot's full product line. Read it as general sentiment about the company, separate from any judgment of AEO on its own.
ThriveStackcitedby's own G2 page carries a 5.0-star rating, on one review so far, too few yet for G2 to issue a buying recommendation. Both tools are early on review volume. Judge them instead on what each one actually tracks and does, covered in the sections above.
Who are the named HubSpot AEO competitors?
HubSpot names nine competitors on its own best-AEO-software page, each labeled for a different buyer. We added ThriveStackcitedby to the top of that same table for direct comparison, keeping HubSpot's own labels and order below it.
| # | Tool | HubSpot's own label | Engines tracked / focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ThriveStackcitedby | Added here for comparison · not on HubSpot's own list | 10 engines, plus the full FACT action model and CRM/billing attribution |
| 2 | AirOps | Content teams building AEO into existing workflows | Visibility tracking plus content production and CMS publishing |
| 3 | Otterly.ai | Agencies and budget-conscious teams | Lowest listed entry price among the nine |
| 4 | Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | Teams already on Semrush | Add-on inside an existing Semrush subscription |
| 5 | Peec AI | Global teams tracking multiple markets | Multi-market tracking, unlimited seats |
| 6 | Scrunch | Enterprise AI content delivery | Infrastructure-level content delivery for AI systems |
| 7 | SE Ranking | SEO teams adding AEO without switching platforms | Lighter AEO depth than dedicated tools |
| 8 | Ahrefs Brand Radar | Ahrefs power users | Requires an existing Ahrefs subscription |
| 9 | Profound | Enterprise monitoring depth | Multi-engine tracking at a higher price tier |
| 10 | Rank Prompt | Budget-conscious agencies | Credit-based pricing for multi-brand management |
A second, independently published leaderboard tells a related story. Rankability's 2026 roundup measures how often eleven different AI systems mention each of ten AEO platforms. Ahrefs, Profound and Semrush lead, each named by 9 of 11 AI systems; Otterly.ai follows at 8; Peec AI and Rankability's own tool tie at 7; Scrunch AI, AthenaHQ, ContentMonk and AirOps round out the list. ThriveStackcitedby isn't named in either published list yet. Both measure incumbents with a longer track record; a newer entrant earns its place through what it actually does, and that takes time to show up in mention counts.
We haven't found another tool on either list, including HubSpot's own, that pairs tracking across 10 AI engines with the full FACT action model and CRM- and billing-tied revenue attribution in one product. That combination is the actual claim behind this page.

Based on this HubSpot AEO review, what’s the real HubSpot AEO alternative?
ThriveStackcitedby, if the job is proving AI visibility turned into pipeline. It tracks 10 engines instead of three. It starts at $35 a month against HubSpot's $50. Its Attribution add-on, from $200 a month, is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant. It connects every citation to CRM and billing data. That turns a citation into a reported revenue line instead of a passing mention.
