Fifty vendors compete in the AI visibility category as of 2026. These eight rose to the top of our capability scoring for eight different, named use cases — the same shortlist you'd land on searching for the top AI visibility tools right now, not because they paid for the placement, but because their verified scores earned it. One of the eight is our own product; we say so upfront and show you the same scoring everyone else gets.

01 · Methodology

How we ranked these 8 AI visibility tools

These eight are pulled from a 50-vendor analyst landscape, not a sponsored list. We scored every vendor across 14 capabilities: engine coverage, citation tracking, sentiment, competitor benchmarking, crawler log analytics, crawl-type separation, proprietary data, published run counts, content actions, ads monitoring, AI shopping, revenue attribution, SOC 2/SSO, and agency multi-client support.

This is our shortlist of the top AI visibility tools for 2026, not an exhaustive top-50; the full ranking with all 50 vendors and their scores is linked below. Some of these vendors market themselves as Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) tools or Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) platforms rather than "AI visibility tools." It's the same category under a different label; we cover all of them here regardless of which term they use. When buyers search for AI visibility, AI share of voice, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) tracking, the same fifty vendors show up.

How each vendor was scored

Every cell in the evaluation got one of four ratings: full (the capability ships today and does what it claims), partial (it exists but is limited, in beta, or requires a higher tier), none (not offered), or not disclosed (the vendor doesn't publish enough to score it either way). Each row also carries a confidence marker: verified from vendor documentation, partly verified, or inferred from category and pricing tier for vendors with thinner public information.

How to read the 50-vendor capability heatmap

Every cell in the matrix represents a vendor's rating across one of 14 capability criteria. Below is the visual guide to interpreting rating colors, confidence markers, and column headers:

How the eight picks were chosen

We didn't average the 14 scores into one number and take the top eight; a single blended score hides the fact that different buyers need different things. Instead, each pick won a specific, named use case: whichever vendor scored highest on the capabilities that use case actually depends on. Profound wins enterprise depth because of its data volume and crawler analytics, not because it scores well everywhere. Evertune wins AI ads because it's the only vendor with a shipped, mature product there. That method can and does produce a shortlist where no single vendor is "best," which is a more honest outcome than a forced #1.

Full disclosure: ThriveStack citedby is our own product, and it's one of the eight, listed first. Its verified scores, full marks on revenue attribution, SOC 2, and agency multi-client support, earned it a spot under the same scoring every other vendor got. Listing it first is a placement choice, not a claim that it beat Profound's data depth or Evertune's ad maturity; our own scoring says it didn't. You can check the reasoning yourself below or in the full 50-vendor analyst report, which shows the same methodology, the same confidence levels, and the 42 vendors that didn't make this shortlist.

03 · Pick 1Our Product

1. ThriveStack citedby — best for cost control, revenue attribution, and multi-brand visibility

Disclosure: this is our product, and we're listing it first. Not because our own scoring says it beats Profound on data depth or Evertune on ad maturity, it doesn't, but because for a specific combination of needs it's the strongest fit in the category: pricing that scales with usage instead of locking you into a flat contract, AI visibility tied to actual revenue, and one account covering more than one brand.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:10, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and Grok
  • Data source:Server logs with crawl-type separation (training vs. retrieval vs. live grounding) plus prompt probe results
  • Pricing:$35/mo entry, ~$199/mo mid-tier, enterprise volume- and value-based on customer ARR, cost scales with usage rather than a fixed annual seat count
  • Best for:Teams that want cost control as they scale, AI visibility tied directly to closed revenue (one of only 5 of 50 vendors in our analyst landscape that scores full here), and multi-brand or multi-client AI visibility from a single account

04 · Pick 2

2. Profound — best for enterprise depth

Profound is the category leader by capital, data depth, and enterprise adoption. Founded August 2024, it raised $155M across four rounds in eighteen months and hit a $1B valuation in February 2026, with 700+ enterprise customers including Target, Walmart, Ramp, and MongoDB.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:10+, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, and Amazon Rufus on enterprise plans
  • Data source:API plus real user query data, with crawler log analytics that separate training, retrieval, and live-grounding traffic
  • Pricing:$99/mo entry (ChatGPT only), $399–499/mo mid-tier, $2,000–5,000+/mo enterprise
  • Best for:Enterprise teams that need compliance features, crawler-level analytics, and a vendor built for board-level reporting

Green = Full, Orange = Partial, Red = Not supported, Beige = None.

Choose Profound over ThriveStack citedby when you're a large enterprise that needs the deepest crawler analytics and prompt-volume data available today, and $2,000–5,000+/month is a rounding error against the deal size.

Choose ThriveStack citedby instead if you also need the AI-visibility number tied to actual pipeline and revenue, not just traffic and mentions; Profound's revenue attribution is still partial, while citedby scores full there and starts at $35/mo rather than a five-figure annual contract.

05 · Pick 3

3. Evertune — best for proprietary panel data and AI ads

Evertune is the only vendor on this list with a mature, purpose-built product for paid placement inside AI answers. Its Visibility Boost and ChatGPT Ads manager put it ahead of the category on a capability almost nobody else has shipped. It's also grounded in a consumer app panel (EverPanel) rather than synthetic prompts alone, which is a meaningfully different, more defensible data source.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:9, including ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Meta AI, and DeepSeek
  • Data source:Consumer app panel plus LLM and search-adjacent signals (EverPanel)
  • Pricing:Sales-gated; demo required
  • Best for:Brands that want to move past monitoring into paid AI-answer placement today, not in 12 months

Choose Evertune over ThriveStack citedby when paid placement inside AI answers is the priority and you want a vendor with a shipped, mature ads product rather than a beta. citedby's own ads-monitoring module is still in beta, we say so plainly in our own analyst report.

Choose ThriveStack citedby instead if what you actually need is revenue attribution and agency support alongside monitoring; Evertune's pricing is sales-gated with no published entry tier, while citedby publishes $35/mo and includes full revenue attribution and agency multi-client support that Evertune doesn't score full on.

06 · Pick 4

4. Peec AI — best transparent-priced self-serve

Peec AI is the fastest revenue growth story in the category and the clearest self-serve pricing on this list. Founded January 2025 out of Antler Berlin, it crossed $10M ARR roughly sixteen months after launch and has onboarded 1,300+ brands and agencies, including ElevenLabs, Chanel, and Axel Springer.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:3 on the standard plan, more on enterprise
  • Data source:API and hybrid probing
  • Pricing:$95/mo entry (50 prompts), Pro and Advanced tiers at 150 and 350 prompts, custom enterprise
  • Best for:Mid-market teams that want transparent pricing and fast onboarding without an enterprise sales cycle

Choose Peec AI over ThriveStack citedby when you specifically want the fastest-growing self-serve platform in the category and don't yet need revenue attribution or agency features; Peec AI's growth story ($10M ARR in 16 months) speaks for itself.

Choose ThriveStack citedby instead if revenue attribution, SOC 2 compliance, or managing multiple client brands from one account matters to you; Peec AI's standard plan tracks only 3 engines against citedby's 10, and citedby's entry price ($35/mo) undercuts Peec AI's ($95/mo) while covering ground Peec AI's core plan doesn't.

07 · Pick 5

5. AthenaHQ — best for SaaS founders and fast movers

AthenaHQ is the founder-built pick. Started in 2024 by an ex-Google Search engineer and an ex-ServiceNow product lead through Y Combinator's W25 batch, it raised a $2.2M seed and has signed 200+ customers including Coinbase, SoFi, and Statsig, exactly the fast-moving SaaS teams its founders used to be.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:8, the same set across every plan rather than gated by tier
  • Data source:High-volume API probing
  • Pricing:Free trial, then self-serve credit-based plans (1 credit = 1 response)
  • Best for:SaaS founders who want to start monitoring today without a sales call, and appreciate a roadmap set by people who've shipped a search product before

Choose AthenaHQ over ThriveStack citedby when you want the fastest possible start with zero sales friction and don't yet need revenue attribution tied to closed deals.

Choose ThriveStack citedby instead once AI visibility needs to show up in a board deck next to actual pipeline; AthenaHQ doesn't score full on revenue attribution or SOC 2, and citedby's $35/mo entry is comparably frictionless once you need those two.

08 · Pick 6

6. Similarweb — best for real traffic data, not synthetic prompts

Similarweb is one of the only vendors on this list not built primarily on synthetic prompts. Its clickstream panel observes actual user behavior across millions of devices, which means its AI-referral numbers are measured traffic, not a modeled estimate of how an LLM might respond. That's a genuinely different, more defensible data source than most of the category, though it's a purpose-built single-product company rather than part of a broader analytics platform.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:6, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, and DeepSeek
  • Data source:Clickstream panel (real observed traffic), not prompt probing
  • Pricing:Enterprise, sales-gated
  • Best for:Teams that want AI-referral traffic numbers they can defend in a board meeting without a methodology caveat attached

Choose Similarweb over ThriveStack citedby when you want a dedicated, purpose-built clickstream product and nothing else; it's a focused single-purpose tool, not a broader platform to onboard onto.

Choose ThriveStack citedby instead if you'd rather get that same traffic-side picture as part of one platform: ThriveStack's marketing analytics suite includes channel performance, clickstream data, and server-log traffic alongside citedby's AI-visibility tracking, tied to the same revenue and agency multi-client features Similarweb doesn't offer. The tradeoff is depth-in-one-thing (Similarweb) versus one platform covering AI visibility, traffic, and revenue together (ThriveStack).

09 · Pick 7

7. Otterly.AI — best budget pick

Otterly.AI is the cheapest full-featured monitor in the category that isn't a stripped-down freemium checker. At $29/mo for daily monitoring across multiple answer engines, it's built for teams that want to start tracking now without waiting on a budget approval.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:6, with AI Mode and Gemini available as add-ons
  • Data source:Scraping and hybrid probing
  • Pricing:$29/mo Lite (15 prompts), $189/mo Standard (100), $489/mo Premium (400)
  • Best for:Freelancers, small agencies, and solo marketers who need a real answer, not a lead-gen teaser, at the lowest possible price

Choose ThriveStack citedby instead once you're managing more than one brand or need the AI-visibility number tied to pipeline; citedby's $35/mo entry is within $6 of Otterly's floor price while adding full agency multi-client support and revenue attribution that Otterly doesn't score on.

10 · Pick 8

8. Semrush AI Toolkit — best if you're already on Semrush

Semrush AI Toolkit is the easiest add-on if AI visibility is a checkbox, not yet a program. With roughly 108,000 paying Semrush customers globally and Adobe's acquisition folding it into a larger Advertising Cloud and LLM Optimizer ecosystem, it's the path of least resistance for teams that already live in Semrush day to day.

Verified Product Specifications

  • Engines tracked:4, analyzed via AI conversation parsing rather than a dedicated probe engine
  • Data source:AI conversation analysis layered onto Semrush's existing SEO data
  • Pricing:$99/mo add-on to an existing Semrush plan; Enterprise AIO is custom
  • Best for:SEO teams that already pay for Semrush and want AI visibility bundled in rather than a second vendor relationship

Choose ThriveStack citedby instead if you're evaluating AI visibility as its own line item rather than a suite add-on; Semrush's AI Toolkit doesn't score full on revenue attribution or agency multi-client support, and standing up citedby doesn't require an existing Semrush contract.
